Stylist Kate Young for Tura | Pop-In Goes Poolside

We visited Kate Young on the bright, sunny morning immediately following the Met Gala and not long before all the craziness of Cannes, and that right there is all the metaphor you really need. Every day in the life of this ultra-cool celebrity stylist is the day after something really major. And probably the day before and during something really major, too. Kate Young … she’s just major.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean you know her by name or that adorable, blonde-fringed face. As a stylist and brand collaborator/consultant, her genius and finesse live largely beyond the camera’s gaze. Not our camera, mind you. No, Kirby Calvin and I brought our lens right up to Young’s downtown NYC office and talked to her about Kate Young for Tura, the collection of super-chic sunglasses she made in collaboration with the New York City–based eyewear brand and available now at Pop-In Goes Poolside.

Here’s what she who dresses Naomi Watts, Natalie Portman and Sienna Miller has to say about summer style, swimming holes of the eastern United States and how frames frame your style.

What to Wear to a Pool Party | Pop-In Goes Poolside

The easy answer to summer’s impending question is not much at all, but it’s what you do with that little bit that sets the season’s best dressed apart from the rest.

This month’s Pop-In@Nordstrom is all about the deck—the tiled, floatie-strewn, beach-towel-covered poolside deck, that is.

In our dream world, the poolside is a place that mixes Old Hollywood regency with present-day realness and global style. At our poolside lounge, Marilyn Monroe and FKA twigs are BFFs. At the poolside, the sun is always shining, the watermelon is always freshly sliced and the DJ is just about to drop our favorite cut—which is a mash-up of vintage girl group doo-wop and Fresh Prince-era feel-good pop. And in this fantasy, everyone is rocking just the right look.

For the skinny on how to wear the best one-piece bathing suits, killer bikinis and more in 2015 poolside style, dive right in.

Just Landed: Topshop Unique Sports Florals for Spring

Who can go from sharp sport-chic to sheer florals within the space of a runway show?
In other words, what’s spring fashion’s version of zero to 60?
Topshop Unique.

In a spring ’15 presentation that started and ended with the darling Ms. Delevingne, the Brits managed to rev up with racing stripes, performance details and a color mix of primary tones, baby blue and deep, rich wine. Adding a ruffle here and a ruffle there—and a measure of au natural abstraction along the way—they rounded the corner right into nighttime sheers and racy lace.

Check out our highlight reel—make that highlight GIF—presented today in celebration of our edit on all this, which is available now at Nordstrom.

Try This On: The Zella PRO Edition

Studies show shopping is at least twelve times more fun en masse. Our Try This On series is all about the camaraderie of sartorial group projects—and this special Wellness Realness episode makes it all about looking good and feeling good, too.

Zella lightweight hooded anorak | Topshop bandeau jumpsuit | Zella running shoes

The question of balancing both life/work and life/workout is really a matter of form vs. function, and where modern-day gym gear is concerned, the answer is definitely not one or the other but both. Innovations in textile technology as well as street and runway sportif trends yield a wide open door for dressing one way, all day—give or take a jumpsuit here and a racer-back tank there.

Here, we step into the Personal Styling dressing rooms at the Seattle flagship with a supremely flexible fitness guru to show you how she manages a 24/7 mix of Zella and ready-to-wear basics.
