Melissa McCarthy Visits Nordstrom Downtown Seattle To Promote Her fashion Line Melissa McCarthy Seven7 Style

Melissa McCarthy Helps Kick Off Anniversary Sale at Nordstrom Downtown Seattle

Not that she needs any introduction, but the movie and TV star and newly-minted fashion designer Melissa McCarthy took time out of her crazy-busy schedule to stop by our flagship store in downtown Seattle last Friday, where she greeted customers and promoted her clothing collection, Melissa McCarthy Seven7.

Let’s be honest: mixed in with the thrill at the prospect of meeting a favorite celebrity IN PERSON is the tiniest fear that the actor you’ve loved and laughed-so-hard-you’ve-cried watching—whose movies you OWN (even though you can watch them on Netflix)—will be nothing like her accessible on-screen persona in real life. But Melissa McCarthy did not disappoint. She was absolutely lovely—warm, down-to-earth, genuinely gracious and engaging with every single person she met—and there were many!

Glimpsing Gators and Eating All the Fried Food in New Orleans | Travel Diary

Our series about wanderlust-worthy, slightly off-the-grid vacation hotspots, with local picks (and gorgeous pics) from our intrepid Nordstrom crew.

WHY THERE? An old college friend and I wanted to meet up (he lives in New York, and I’m in Seattle). We wanted to explore someplace in the South, and neither of us had been to New Orleans as adults. Plus, the city’s mix of history, culture and cuisine (read: fried food) met all of our vacay requirements.

Going Medieval and Living a Dream in Saint-Cirq Lapopie, France | Travel Diary

Our series about wanderlust-worthy, slightly off-the-grid vacation hotspots, with local picks (and gorgeous pics) from our intrepid Nordstrom crew.

WHY THERE? A friend went to a charity auction and placed the winning bid to stay at a house there. Saint-Cirq Lapopie is a medieval village in southeastern France dating back to the 13th century, complete with a church and castle ruins at the top of the village. It’s rated as one of the most beautiful villages in France, so when my friend invited my husband and me to join her, we jumped at the chance. We flew to Paris and then took the train down through the French countryside (which I highly recommend) to the city of Cahors, where we met up with our friends for the 30-minute car ride to Saint-Cirq Lapopie.

Hiking a Volcano and Sipping Endless Frappés in Santorini | Travel Diary

Our series about wanderlust-worthy, slightly off-the-grid vacation hotspots, with local picks (and gorgeous pics) from our intrepid Nordstrom crew.

WHY THERE? I’ve always wanted to visit the Greek islands. There are so many to choose from, but Santorini has the reputation of being one of the most gorgeous. The island was formed out of lava from a volcanic eruption, and the central part of the volcano sank into the sea to create a crater, or caldera. We flew to Athens and then took a 30-minute flight to Santorini. I definitely recommend flying versus taking the 8-hour ferry ride.

WHY THERE? My boyfriend was on an around-the-world trip and wanted me to meet him somewhere. Thailand was one of his stops, and I had never been there—plus the idea of lying on a tropical beach sounded amazing. I met him in Bangkok and we flew to Krabi Town (the gateway to the southwestern Thai beach resorts) and then went by boat to the islands of Ko Ngai, Ko Jum and Ko Phi Phi Don.

rag & bone Spring ’16: Cool-Girl Hair & Makeup

For their spring ’16 runway show, rag & bone’s David Neville and Marcus Wainwright had a clear vision of how their models should look: “Our girl is effortless in her style and inherently feminine, yet has an unapologetic confidence and toughness to her. The mood should convey easy luxe—a laid-back vibe that oozes cool-girl attitude.”

To complement the sexy, sporty collection, makeup artist Gucci Westman created pretty, sun-kissed, no-makeup faces with luminous skin, light dustings of bronzer, bold natural brows and coffee-colored eyeliner. “I wanted them to have a windswept-safari-desert-meets-Brooke-Shields-in-The-Blue-Lagoon look,” she said.

WHY THERE? I’ve gone about seven times since 2002—I love Sayulita because it’s an authentic Mexican surf town with a mix of international people. It’s really safe—you can walk everywhere and don’t need to rent a car. Also, NO BUGS.
