Style is mostly about how you wear something, not what you wear. This spring, after examining our packed closets, we turned to Nordstrom Styling Director Ruth Basloe for tips on how to make the most of what we’ve got. Ruth gave us 10 ways to wear things we already own, incorporating small updates to look fresh this season. So here’s how we’ll be wearing everything—along with some street-style inspo and shopping links (in case you feel inclined to buy)!
This last month has been a whirl—one filled with designer platforms, reams of fringe, handbags the size of suitcases and crayon-colored eyeshadow. All of these glamorous things have left us in a swivet, and we’re suffering a bout of fashion fatigue from keeping up with the runway shows and street style. It’s a complicated self-diagnosis but, we’re assured, completely curable.
So once again we turned to Kate Bellman, associate fashion director in our Nordstrom Fashion Office, to distill the runway’s biggest trends for fall 2017. Because if someone were to ask us, our response would sound like nonsensical Elton John song lyrics: “blue jeans, baby; rocket ships; crocodile shoes and rhinestone sunglasses.” See what we mean?

Thank goodness for Kate! Here’s her professional breakdown of the last four weeks—plus our on-trend shopping picks. Sing along if you want to!
As Paris Fashion Week comes to a close, we’re reflecting on our favorite street-style looks and getting better acquainted with the ladies who wore them—by creeping around on their Insta accounts. (You’re like a friend from afar if you follow!) Because not everyone can accessorize with an umbrella, puddle jump in stilettos and layer three shirts, we love the women who try and succeed. Bien fait!

The fashion and beauty authorities in New York, London, Milan and Paris have spoken.… Fashion month is almost officially over, and we’re thinking about the wide range of trends—from sequined lips to daisy eyes—we saw on the catwalks and on the streets. While the rhinestone teardrop may not be a look you’re going to sport every day, there are plenty of runway-beauty takeaways you can apply to your real-life makeup routine. Get ready to have fun with color again, switch up your lipstick game and reacquaint yourself with the world of iridescent makeup.
After a long day of pinning and bookmarking runway looks, nothing takes the edge off like losing yourself in a bit of street-style surfing. And if you consider yourself a fashion-month superfan, you can probably identify a city by its unique slew of It girls and street-style moments. New York is effortlessly cool; London is forward and edgy; and Paris is perennially chic. But Milan—well, Milan has more fun. Glamorous and bold, with an “anything goes” attitude, Italian street style is like theater, and we can’t get enough. The outfits literally jump off the pavement with rich colors, unexpected patterns and dramatic flourishes. And when it comes to scene-stealing techniques, fashion girls in Italy understand the power of a great pair of shoes. Because it’s impossible to pick a single favorite style, today we’re rounding up four big shoe trends you’ll see fashion girls wearing all season long. Get ready to take your outfits to the next level with must-have pairs you can shop right now.
And just like that, closing time for London Fashion Week has struck on Big Ben’s face. Although it seemed as fleeting as a moment of sunshine in the British capital, LFW packed the street-style punches. To make up for the overcast skies, the fashion fold wore acid-bright colors and sparkly shoes. We were oh-so-pleasantly dazzled.
Here are just some of our favorite looks on the loveliest ladies we’ve been trailing all week—plus their Instagram accounts so we can keep tabs on them as they bounce to the next Fashion Week.

After the whirlwind of runways this New York Fashion Week, we looked to our Fashion Office to tell us what exactly happened. When it comes to fall 2017, what will we be wearing? What are the big takeaways for the season? What do we need to know? Um, help.
Associate Fashion Director Kate Bellman sifted through the crazy, beautiful style this season, breaking it down to six need-to-know trends. With our sights newly focused, we then took the liberty of rounding up some styles that you can shop—and wear—now.

This Fashion Week, one of the biggest looks on the runway involved reworked classic menswear. Prep codes were reinvented with generous proportions and masculine/feminine mash-ups. Tailoring introduced deconstructed layers to make suits look modern and streetwise. Androgynous hats, tweeds, checks and pinstripes all appeared on runways as distinct as Public School, Victoria Beckham, Michael Kors and Proenza Schouler.
With New York now in the rearview, our eyes are glued to the streets and the runways across the pond. We don’t know about you, but we always get goosebumps on the first day of London Fashion Week. Maybe it’s because the English roses we see traipsing to and from the shows always give off a cool-girl vibe that’s thoughtful and never overdone; there’s an element of risk-taking to British street style that’s made to look effortless from head to toe.
But before we get too ahead of ourselves (after all, it’s only day one), we’re starting with the statement hair accessories we’re expecting to see on our favorite It girls. From ’90s barrettes to unexpected ways to use a hair tie, we’re showing you how to style the accessory trends that are going to take over London.
