While the main event is always on the runway, some shows give such good sideline action that it just can’t be ignored. Carven is like that: the neoclassic French house’s extra-special shift dresses, statement-making tops and ’60s minis inspire spirited fans who make the most of the brand’s fresh and refreshing vibe.

At the show on Thursday at the Jardin des Tuileries, it was all about the shoes in the front row. We couldn’t help ourselves; we had to document them.
