We’ve been rocking with 100% Vancouver deejays lately, with our new store opening September 18 in that majestic Pacific Northwest metropolis.

One recent set by Vancouver’s Niña Mendoza gave us life (shout out DayShiftSEA, one mile from Nordstrom HQ in Seattle) and we highly recommend her funky, right-now-meets-1983 mix “Love For Free,” promoting her September 10 show with Dâm-Funk. It’s been sustaining us throughout the week.

Stream the mix below and download it here so you don’t kill your data while you’re in the gym. Hit READ MORE for the track list and Vancouver-focused Q&A.

And if you’re in Vancouver, catch Niña Mendoza Fridays starting in September at the Projection Room inside the Fox Cabaret.

My favorite record store in Vancouver is Beatstreet and I like it because they bought the entire record collection of Vancouver’s premier black club in the 80’s, the Warehouse.

If you only have 24 hours in Vancouver, three things you should do are:
1. Ride: rent a bike and hit the Stanley Park seawall (if it’s not raining, of course)
2. Visit Arthur Erickson & Cornelia Oberlander-designed Robson Square/ BC Provincial Courts/ Vancouver Art Gallery (across from Nordstrom)
3. Eat: Enjoy a meal from Sada at Octopus’ Garden. Sit at the bar.

The most underrated thing about Vancouver is:
Its music artists. Dig deeper for the gems, it’s worth it.

Late night after the club, my favorite place to eat in Vancouver is Mean Poutine and my order is Fried Chicken Poutine.

The best Vancouver-only beverage is…
Swamp water from the mystical lost lagoon

The most important quality in a deejay is:
Passion bordering on obsession

My favorite decade of music is:
’80s

Last pair of shoes bought:
Can’t remember, but I did the opposite recently, and downsized a couple 100 pairs of sneakers. To be free!

Current shoes lusting after:
fragment design x Nike Sock Dart in black

If you were shopping for me on nordstrom dot com, I would like it if you bought me these
