Gifted Giver: Thig Nat of The Physics

We’re counting down the crucial pre-Christmas shopping days with a series called Gifted Givers, in which friends old and new share their thoughts on stylishly spirited giving and receiving.

Readers of this blog know that name, they know that face. They know that camera. What can we say? We like Thig Nat’s style, and his insight. We thought you might like his stylish shopping list, so we hit him up for that too.

The Thread: What would you love to give your mom this year?

Nordstrom’s Wool & Cashmere Wrap in heather dark camel. My mom is notoriously always cold. So comfort and warmth are big things for her. Cashmere is such a great fabric because of the way it feels against your skin, particularly around your neck in a scarf so when you combine it with the warmth wool provides, it’s a perfect fit for her. It’s also big enough to wrap around her shoulders when she just wants to chill at home which is great.

What would you love to unwrap for yourself?

When it comes to clothes if I really want something, chances are I already have it. So for me, sometimes the best gift is something I need but tend to neglect. I think skincare falls under that category for most men, myself included. Keeping a consistent skincare regimen is a lot easier when you have a go-to facial cleaner and moisturizer so if someone copped me a good combo like Jack Black’s daily facial cleanser and moisturizer I would be grateful for sure.

What kinds of things do people tend to give you? Why do you suppose that is? What does no one ever give you or what do you never indulge in for yourself?

Gift certificates. Whenever friends or fam ask me what I want, I tell them to get me a gift certificate to one of my favorite stores. If you know me you know I’m picky, so giving me the opportunity to choose my gift is always a safe bet. What I absolutely need to indulge more in is travel. A trip to Europe or back to Africa is something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately so I’m trying to make that happen in the near future.

What’s your go-to host or hostess gift, either for a party or for a weekend or extended stay?

My go-to is a bottle of wine because it works in every situation. That and guacamole. Also works in every situation.
