Real-Life Wish List: Strath, Creative Director

With Christmas right around the corner, we asked three male colleagues here at Nordstrom HQ to share what’s on their gift radar this year. First up is Strath Shepard, our Creative Director for Custom Digital Content—a man who’s equally into outdoor excursions and obscure periodicals. If this sounds like someone on your own holiday shopping list, continue reading to find the perfect gift.

1. Seletti Hybrid Porcelain Tableware. “These are really unexpected and great—even the most unpalatable Christmas fruitcake would be fun to eat off of these plates.”
[Shop: Seletti Dinner Plates | All Seletti]

2. Junya Watanabe Wool Shirt Jacket. “The way Junya pieces are often constructed actually kind of reminds me of those plates. The subtle hand in mixing different fabrics and textures is a fresh approach to classic American clothing, and the tailoring and construction is amazing.”
[Shop: Junya Watanabe Shirt Jacket | All Junya Watanabe]

3. Topman Socks. “So many good ones to choose from. I’m torn between the Rocky Mountain ones with the skier, and the Polar Bear—which may or may not be my spirit animal.”
[Shop: Topman Socks | All Socks]

4. Todd Snyder Crewneck Sweatshirt. “Basically the nicest sweatshirt on the planet, in my humble opinion.”
[Shop: Todd Snyder Sweatshirt | All Todd Snyder]

5. Bamford Watch Department Customized Rolex Submariner. “I mean, obviously.”
[Currently on back-order. Join the Waitlist or Shop All Men’s Watches.]

6. The Open Road. “I think as I get older, I appreciate the gift of experiences just as much as actual stuff. We’re opening several Nordstrom stores in Canada over the next few years, and I’m dying to road-trip from Seattle to Vancouver, and then across British Columbia to Alberta. I want to ski at Lake Louise, and I’m looking forward to spending some time exploring Calgary before our first Canadian store opens there next fall. So I’ll add a roadmap and some gas money to my wish list.”

7. A Well-Stocked Shelf. “Books and magazines are my favorite. Last time I was in New York, Left Bank Books had a complete set of Portfolio magazine, which was published by Alexey Brodovitch (the legendary art director of Harper’s Bazaar from the late ’30s through the ’50s), with one of the issues signed by Brodovitch, Richard Avedon, and Irving Penn—kind of a holy trinity.”
