Marni’s Mid-Century Redux

Designer Consuelo Castiglioni described her Fall 2012 men’s collection, available for pre-order now, as “Classic pieces from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, viewed by a young guy in 2012.”

The modernist revisions are subtle—but that’s exactly what makes the clothes as timeless as they are current.

Check out some favorites below, and shop the full men’s collection here.

Classic: Wool/cashmere topcoat.
Update: Trim lapels and a slightly amped-up shade of camel.

Classic: Printed shirt.
Update: The polka dots are actually negative space in an abstract grid motif.

Classic: Denim jacket.
Update: Precisely tailored, in a blue so deep it’s practically black.

Classic: Crewneck sweater.
Update: Its rugged-looking knit is rendered in super-soft cashmere.
