Pop-In Shops

Here we have a little behind-the-scenes action from the photo shoot for Magic Hour, our new Pop-In@Nordstrom. For the uninitiated, Pop-Ins are recurring boutiques curated by our director of creative projects Olivia Kim, which exist in selected physical Nordstrom locations and of course online.

Magic Hour refers to the time at a music festival when the sun sets and tame gives way to turnt. Snapshots and a detailed statement from Olivia are below.

The crown jewels of our latest Olivia Kim-curated Pop-In Shop, GIFT & GO, are a series of five blacked-out Rolexes customized exclusively for us in collaboration with Bamford Watch Department.

Make no mistake: Each watch is literally the only one of its kind in the world. Through advanced technologies, our friends at London-based Bamford take brand-new luxury watches, custom-color each individual component, and reassemble the watch to its original premium-grade specifications.

Keep reading for a closer look at our custom Daytona, Milgauss, Explorer II and more—and to hear the backstory of the brand from founder George Bamford.

Pop-In@Nordstrom Welcomes I.T: We collaborated with Hong Kong fashion collective I.T to bring menswear brands izzue, :CHOCOOLATE and Aape by A BATHING APE to the U.S. for the first time.

When our ace Pop-In Shop photo crew completed their already-ambitious shot list ahead of schedule, did they adjourn to the corner bar for self-congratulatory beers and back-pats? No. Did they snap a selfie and take a nap? No. Did they high-five in slow motion while a building exploded in the background? Probably.

But THEN, they grabbed their gear and headed outside to put in more work. Keep reading to see their full gallery of extra-credit images, shot atop undulating rooftops and on the wrong side of the tracks in SODO (that’s shorthand for ‘south of downtown’), Seattle—and don’t miss your chance to shop rare Hong Kong clothes at Pop-In@Nordstrom Welcomes I.T, through this weekend only.

Pop-In@Nordstrom Welcomes I.T: We collaborated with Hong Kong fashion collective I.T to bring menswear brands izzue, :CHOCOOLATE and Aape by A BATHING APE to the U.S. for the first time.

With looks ranging from best-in-class bomber jackets to preppy cable-knit sweaters to all-camo-everything from a streetwear legend, our latest Olivia Kim-curated Pop-In Shop has something—nay, many things—for menswear fans of every stripe.

To help cut through the euphoria-inducing sartorial overload, we asked stylist Ashley Helvey (a talented artist, tea connoisseur and Giants fan with a deadpan sense of humor) to tell us her favorites. Keep reading for tips from the pro who assembled every I.T outfit in our shop.

These visually striking and subliminally comedic portraits (seriously, when’s the last time you saw Jerry Seinfeld mug this meanly?), commissioned by New York brand rag & bone, came across our desk a few weeks ago. But today—with the launch of our latest limited-time, Olivia Kim-curated shop, Pop-In@Nordstrom x rag & bone—seemed like an ideal time to call them to your attention.

Keep reading to see more of this series by talented English photographer Andreas Laszlo Konrath (a former avid skateboarder and punk band bass player who has since shot for high-profile publications like Vogue, Wired and Rolling Stone). The impressive body of work includes GQ’s deftly sardonic “Style Guy” Glenn O’Brien, NBA badass Carmelo Anthony, and many more men and women of all ages—a testament to the universal appeal of rag & bone’s modern-meets-heritage menswear.

Best Made Co is physically based in the big city of Manhattan—but the five-year-old company’s ethos is keenly focused on wide-open spaces with nary a skyscraper in sight.

Originating with a simple proposition to build a better axe (a lifeline in the wilderness as well as an inspirational symbol for city-dwellers), Best Made quickly expanded its offering to include form-meets-function items from first-aid kits to fireside coffee cups.

They frequently field-test said products in picturesque, enviably uninhabited locales—and collect incredible visual documentation while they’re at it. Keep reading to see excerpts from four of our favorite Best Made photo essays from all corners of the great United States (a perfect way to wrap up our LET’S GO Pop-In Shop, which comes to an end this Sunday).
