Rob Lowe with his therapist on The Grinder, Maya Rudolph

We remain inspired by Rob Lowe, the film and TV icon who has somehow found time to become a serious player in men’s skincare and fragrance while working on four TV shows: Moonbeam City, the Lion Guard, You, Me & the Apocalypse and The Grinder (so apropos).

With Rob’s self-care brand Profile now offering its debut scent, “Amber Wood 18,” exclusively at Nordstrom, we got on the phone and chatted about the details of the fragrance, regrettable colognes from the 1970s and what it means to be truly successful in life.

Because Rob is the man of the people, you can conduct your own Q&A as well: in person March 18 at 5 pm in our Seattle flagship, or pose your question right now on Twitter by tweeting to @Nordstrom with #nordstromxroblowe, where you might get a video response.

roblowesignatureConsider yourself alerted to Rob Lowe’s cover story in the new GQ. It’s about reinvention, that most American quality which Lowe has uniquely embodied, and contains such jewels as:

“If you are in a transitional period, a rebuilding period, a fallow period, go to the opposite end of your range. For me, that was comedy.”

This fall, let’s all heed Lowe’s words. Diversify our bonds and remember all that other stuff we’re good at.

Need more Lowe? Check our own interview with the man himself about, among other things, Parks & Recreation, The Grinder and his Nordstrsom-exclusive skincare line PROFILE.

And if you’ll be in/around L.A. October 2, don’t miss the chance to physically, actually, literally meet Rob Lowe at Nordstrom at The Grove, where he’ll be chilling in men’s fragrance on floor one from noon-1 p.m.

Why is Rob Lowe smiling? Well, he’s 30-plus years into showbiz as a dramatic and comedic actor and nobody’s sick of him yet. He’s got twelve racks sitting pretty on his wrist. And he’s about to throw a perfect spiral.

But besides all that: Rob Lowe is smiling because he’s super stoked on his PROFILE skincare line. Far from a vanity project, PROFILE is a sincere labor of love. And it’s available exclusively at Nordstrom.

Mr. Lowe is literally stoked, as his character Chris Traeger on Parks and Recreation would say. On the phone he was chipper and came off like he had all the time in the world to chat (he did not; he was literally in the middle of filming his new TV show, The Grinder).

Read more below about Lowe’s favorite Chris Traeger line, which XM Radio station he plays while chillaxing in his pool—and why he’s 51 but looks 36.
