Our National Bridal Director, Andrea Wasserman, shares her insider photos and a quick trend recap from Bridal Fashion Week.
I’m back from Bridal Week, where it was all about the back: interesting low-cut backlines, lace, and illusion. We’re still seeing illusion necklines and straps, and convertible details are also in (think removable peplum, lace toppers, cover-ups and convertible straps). We also saw tea-length and Jackie O.-inspired dresses—definitely a nod to classic glamour.
Overall, there are a lot more diverse necklines, rather than just strapless.
Of course, there are still the traditional, ultra-flattering styles like A-line, mermaid and sweetheart neck.

We’re inviting you behind the scenes at the 2011 National Bridal Market with Nordstrom Weddings Site Merchandiser Deniz Anders and National Bridal Director Andrea Wasserman as they share what they loved on the runways—and what’s coming to the Wedding Suite at Nordstrom this spring.
Georgia native Anne Barge is an institution in her own right. Her runway show at Pier 94 was a who’s who of Bridal Week—including Martha Stewart Weddings Editor Darcy Miller, Mark Ingram of the famous Mark Ingram Salon and Randy Fenoli, star of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress and acting fashion director at Kleinfeld. (We chatted Randy up about doing something with Nordstrom!)
Some of the most beautiful gowns of the week walked down the runway to the song “This Is the Moment.” After the show, we met Anne in her showroom and viewed her entire collection up close.
We are so thrilled to introduce La Fleur by Anne Barge at Nordstrom. A few of our favorite styles our brides can expect are:
Amherst—a gown of shirred tulle with an elongated strapless bodice and voluminous pickup skirt.
Hadley—another strapless, constructed out of pearl Italian Razo silk shantung, with pleated bodice detail and a pleated skirt with pockets.
Reilly—a modern column gown with architectural lines of pearl Italian silk Magnolia with vertical bias ruffles of silk satin organza. We love the special ruffle at the bustline (i.e. crumb catcher).
La Fleur by Anne Barge available for special order in stores February 2012.
