Bridesmaid Dresses

Black and white and prints all over! Eliza J has a new crop of dresses in black-and-white patterns—from floral and lace to stripes and dots—all in a figure-flattering fit-and-flare silhouette. While any of these would be adorable for a wedding guest, bolder brides might consider a mix of styles for their bridesmaids!

The simplicity of the two colors and the similar cut of each dress make the grouping complementary and fun, not overwhelming. But if you’re not quite ready to try all different styles for each ‘maid, think about pairing just two together for an every-other combo, or give your maid of honor her own pattern to stand out from the rest.

Today, we’re sharing not just one but three ideas on how to accessorize for different wedding destinations and themes.

For a downtown affair: Statement earrings in mixed metals, plus neutral—but glam—accessories take the light pastel shades from sweet to chic.

A fit-and-flare silhouette, a cute cut-out in back, a neat side bow: these are a few of our favorite things about this new Isaac Mizrahi New York silk mikado dress. But that’s not all….

It also comes in six other colors, making it a match for many wedding color schemes. The pleated skirt makes it sweet, and the polished fabric makes it chic—especially when dressed up with sleek accessories.

We love the pop of red in a slim patent clutch, and ladylike-yet-glam gold pumps. Match the bow on the dress with a stack of sparkly kate spade new york bangles and you’re ready to make the bride proud—and also look great on the dance floor!

With fall and winter approaching comes a shift in wedding color palettes, and we’re seeing jewel tones as a big trend. Who wouldn’t love colors inspired by jewels like rich ruby, amethyst, topaz, emerald and sapphire–we’ll take the gems and the dresses both, please!

Our Wedding Stylists recommend mixing the new shades of our exclusive ML Monique Lhuillier Ruched Cationic Chiffon Sheath among your bridal party. Consider letting each bridesmaid choose her own color, and don’t worry if you repeat colors in a larger group. You can anchor the mixed shades with black shoes or matching bouquets.

We’re telling today’s Real Wedding story with a bit of a twist! Jared and Stephanie got married on June 7 in a rustic, casual affair at Red Horse Barn in Huntington Beach, CA. To outfit their awesome wedding party, they worked with their Nordstrom Men’s Shop stylist Josh! Read on for details.

From Stephanie: Our vision for our wedding day was to have a big celebration where everyone would be able to enjoy themselves, eat great food and dance the night away! To accomplish this, we went with a rustic outdoor inspiration that created a relaxed and casual vibe.

At first, the planning was a little tough because I was still in school and Jared was working full time in Orange County. However, once we set our minds to making decisions about colors, rentals, catering, etc., we plunged forward and didn’t look back to second-guess any of our decisions. I had lots of help from my sister and my sister-in-law getting the whole vision to come together. We dreamed up ideas for centerpieces and décor and then went to flea markets and garage sales to collect things that would fit our rustic theme.

To create our wedding party looks, we worked with Josh Boudreau at Nordstrom South Coast Plaza, in the Men’s Shop. His expertise definitely helped take all of the attire to a much greater level than we could have envisioned without him.

The bridesmaids wore matching Calvin Klein dresses: silk chiffon with rosette-detailed bodices, in a mint color that matched my mint shoes! The girls each chose their own nude or tan wedges and wore pearl bracelets.

Josh helped Jared and the groomsmen pick out which colors would work best together, and he helped us find the right fit of the pants and shirts as well. The groomsmen wore grey Topman dress pants and gingham print Calibrate shirts in black and white with mint ties. Jared wore a Topman jacket and pants with the same shirt and tie.

Jared and I didn’t see each other the day of the wedding, until I made my way down the aisle. That was one of my favorite things—getting to step out and surprise him and take it all in as I walked toward the man of my dreams!

When the reception started, we finally got to see our vision come to fruition, and things turned out better than we could have ever imagined. It was amazing to see everyone who had come out to celebrate with us and support our new adventure in life!

Tulle is one of our favorite fabrics for wedding dresses, as it’s soft, ethereal and feminine (like in these Roses by Reem Acra gowns.) So it’s no surprise that we’re loving this tulle bridesmaid dress by ML Monique Lhuillier. Exclusive to Nordstrom, this ruched sheath has a super-flattering sweetheart neckline and off-the-shoulder “wrap” sleeves. With an open back, it gives the look of a shoulder topper, but it’s all one piece!

In our styling, the cool slate color is accented by a new sparkler by kate spade new york, a brocade clutch with hints of gold and lavender patent sandals. A gorgeous bridesmaid option—and totally re-wearable for post-wedding events!

It’s safe to say that coral has been one of THE colors in weddings this year, and while it may not be brand-new, we’re still loving it! Inspired by shades found in nature, a coral palette works best in spring, summer or fall, with the shade tweaked slightly depending on the season.

As we head into the end of summer (say it isn’t so!), we’re loving coral in the new Jenny Yoo styles for bridesmaid dresses (in ‘Paprika’), as well as in chunky, bold jewelry and in accessories mixed with gold. Oh, and don’t forget the fresh peaches as décor—and dessert!

Long bridesmaid dresses are everywhere right now in all colors, fabrics and shapes—and the silhouette we’re currently loving is the Donna Morgan ‘Laura’ dress. It’s the same ultra-flattering sweetheart neckline as the bride- and bridesmaid-favorite ‘Morgan’ but extended to floor length for a more formal look—or more boho vibe, depending on how it’s accessorized.

We went the more formal route in styling, inspired by the rich jewel tone called amethyst. We added a statement necklace with hints of green, a skinny bangle (or five), a fun beaded clutch and simple black stilettos (don’t forget your heel protectors!).

Love the long look but want different styles for your girls? You can find the amethyst color in a one-shoulder dress and a twist-waist V-neck style, too. Want to mix shades? Look for plum or grey ridge in other Donna Morgan dresses. You major purple lovers will also want to check out our lavender wedding inspiration board!

Sunny yellow is one of the most “smiley” colors there is: you can’t help but feel happy looking at all these bright and fresh images!

Have you ever noticed how great yellow and white look together? This must be why it’s such a popular accent color for weddings. Just look at that cake (yum!) or the yellow roses against a white wedding dress—so clean and crisp.

In bridesmaid dresses, solid yellow is pretty in a lace shift like this Jenny Yoo dress, satin strapless like this Alfred Sung dress or a mixed-media fit-and-flare like this Ted Baker London frock.

For jewelry, shoes and accessories, play with yellow in geometric or floral patterns to mix it up!

And don’t forget the flowers: roses, daisies, sunflowers, peonies, ranunculi and lilies are some of our favorite yellow-hued buds.

We are swooning over printed bridesmaid dresses, especially in bright florals that feel summery and flirty! This one-shoulder chiffon dress, called ‘Rhea’ by Donna Morgan, fits the bill.

It could work for a full group of bridesmaids, or as a special dress for a maid of honor, paired with other shades of solid blue and green for a bigger bridal party. We see it in a garden or beach setting with a single-shade bouquet.

We mixed neutral gold and nude accessories to bring out the hints of yellow in this bold dress, with ankle-strap sandals, drop earrings and a sparkly, jungle-themed clutch!
